A city day has
more moving parts.

Getting married in Philadelphia is not the same job as getting married on a lawn. There is a loading dock. A permit. A block that closed this morning. Fifteen minutes between the ceremony ending and the room being flipped, and traffic that decides how much of those fifteen minutes you actually get.

We have been photographing in this city for fifteen years, so we plan around all of that instead of meeting it for the first time on your wedding day. We know which blocks are workable on a Saturday afternoon, where to stand on Cira Green when the wind comes up off the river, and what to do with twenty minutes and a rainstorm. That planning is what buys you the pictures.

It is also why photography and film come from the same team here. In a tight Center City room, hiring two companies means two sets of people negotiating the same doorway, and you are the one introducing them to each other. Our cinematographers have worked beside our photographers for years. And by your wedding day we will not be strangers to you either. We talk before you book, and again while we build your timeline.

Around the City

The city itself is the
second venue.

Most Philadelphia couples get somewhere between fifteen and forty minutes outside their venue, and that short window is where the photographs people frame usually come from. The Art Museum terrace looking down the Parkway. A pair of painted doors on an Old City side street. The Broad Street median with City Hall lit behind you. We keep a running list of what works at which hour, and a second list of what still works when the forecast falls apart. On the day we choose from those lists instead of driving around hoping something turns up.

The Lucy

Herringbone floors, warm brick and a balcony to photograph the ceremony from. One of the easiest rooms in the city to shoot well, and one of the prettiest.

The Ballroom at the Ben

A grand hotel ballroom with a real balcony above it, which means the wide ceremony frame everybody hopes for is actually possible here.

Dark wood, oil portraits and chandeliers. Enormous character and almost no daylight, so this room lives or dies on how it is lit.

Cira Green

A park on a rooftop twelve stories up, skyline on one side and the river on the other. Bright, exposed and far better late in the day than at noon.

Moshulu

A four-masted ship on the Delaware. Rigging, water and open sky, and a deck that turns lovely about an hour before sunset.

Merchants' Exchange

Greek Revival marble and cobblestones a few steps from Dock Street. The most unmistakably Philadelphia backdrop on this list.

Fairmount Water Works

Neoclassical buildings above the Schuylkill, old trees and river light. Green in a way the rest of the city simply is not.

An industrial loft with tall arched windows and enough room to light a dance floor properly once it gets dark.

We also photograph at the Crystal Tea Room, the Union League and the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, and we shoot engagement sessions at the Art Museum, Boathouse Row, the Navy Yard and Citizens Bank Park. If your venue is not here, tell us anyway. We work across Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery Counties, New Jersey and Delaware, and there is a good chance we have already been there.

After Dark

The half of the day
nobody plans for.

Couples spend months on the ceremony and the portraits, and then the reception simply happens to them. It is usually where the photographs they keep come from: the toast that lands, the parent who finally lets go, the dance floor at eleven o'clock. City rooms are lit for atmosphere rather than for a camera, which makes this the part of the night where photographers separate. We bring our own light, and we shoot from inside the dance floor rather than standing politely at the edge of it.

Eight hours is $4,620, ten hours $5,000 and twelve hours $5,400, and cinematography costs the same as photography. There is no travel fee anywhere in Philadelphia. Every collection includes two photographers, a fully color-corrected gallery and personal print rights.
